Trolls
By Euphrates
Trolls They're squat, ugly, generally underdressed, and have shocking hair colors like lime-green, pink and orange. No, they aren't the neighborhood skateboarders. They're trolls.

Uneeda's Wishnik trolls and Thomas Dam's Dam Things are two of the earliest troll lines, dating back to the early '60s. The trolls ranged in size from 2 inches to life-sized and were made to resemble doctors, vampires, tennis players, farmers, cowboys, super heroes, housewives, animals, rock stars and more. Kids could also get Troll related accessories like halloween costumes, puzzles, records, paper dolls, playsets and vinyl carrying cases.

In addition to Wishniks and Dam Things, you can also find trolls made in the '70s, '80s and '90s by Hasbro, Mattel, Russ Berry, Nyform, Trollkins and Ace Novelty.

The craze peaked in the late '60s and early '70s. In the '80s, trolls enjoyed renewed popularity on store shelves and in the secondary market, that has lasted right up to today.
